PTPs are proteins with enzymatic properties and a range of cell and tissue functions.
Our overall knowledge about PTP function, however, lags far behind that of many other proteins and PTPNET was therefore established to tackle many pressing questions in the field. These included our desire to understand protein structure and regulation, how PTPs send signals inside cells and tissues, and how PTPs are involved in embryo development and diseases such as cancer, multiple sclerosis and osteoporosis. We also aimed to deliver a comprehensive, internet-based resource for the international research community.
